TCS bags cargo contract

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has bagged a five-year multi-million- dollar contract from Singapore Airlines Cargo. According to the agreement, SIA Cargo has outsourced its cargo revenue accounting processes to TCS. Although the company did not reveal the deal size, industry sources said it could be over $100 million as SIA Cargo, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, is ranked fourth in the world in terms of international freight per tonne-kilometre.

CII agreement

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Bengal Engineering and Science University and the West Bengal University of Technology as part of an industry-university consortium initiative.

MSP Steel

MSP Steel & Power Ltd has set up an integrated steel complex at Jamgaon in Raigarh district, Chhattisgarh. In 2007-08, the company has reported a net turnover of Rs 375 crore and a profit before tax of Rs 60.45 crore, registering a jump of 68 per cent and 160 per cent, respectively, from the previous year.

Ramsarup

The infrastructure division of Ramsarup Industries Ltd has bagged an order of Rs 82 crore for infrastructure projects. The company has registered an eight per cent increase in its total income to Rs 383.05 crore for the quarter ended June 30, 2008.

Manaksia net

Manaksia Ltd has registered a 48.79 per cent increase in profit after tax in the first quarter of the present fiscal at Rs 43.33 crore compared with Rs 29.12 crore.

Tata plant

Tata Refractories Ltd will set up a plant in Visakhapatnam to manufacture high alumina refractories for Rs 80 crore. The Vizag plant is part of a five-year growth plan adopted by the company.

SPML order

Subhash Projects and Marketing Ltd (SPML) has secured a Rs 318-crore drinking water supply project for the Pokhran town from the government of Rajasthan.

CBoI card

The Central Bank of India (CBoI), Calcutta zone, has launched Visa platinum card and Visa gold card on August 21.

Fair & Lovely Foundation has launched a scholarship programme for women in Bengal. The scholarship will support students in their graduation, post graduation and PhD courses.
