The Natural Way

I am a 23-year-old woman with oily skin. I have acne on my forehead. How can I get rid of them? Also, how can I get a glowing skin?

Priyanka, Asansol

Check to see whether you have dandruff which could lead to the acne. If yes, then treat the dandruff first. Make a tonic using 200ml rose water with 1tsp powdered camphor. Wipe your forehead with this thrice daily to keep it oil-free.

I am a 15-year-old girl with dry hair suffering from a hairloss problem. How can I get soft, thick hair?

Kapi Zirdo, A.P.

Take 10 hibiscus flowers and grind them finely to make a paste. Mix 5tbs honey to this and massage it into the scalp and hair. Leave it on for 20 minutes. Wash off with a shampoo specially formulated for dry hair.

Cosmetic cures

I am a 44-year-old woman. What are the benefits of ‘body brushing’ and how’s it done?

Name and address withheld

Dry-skin brushing is a method used to remove dried, dead cells. This allows the skin to breathe easily and increases its ability to eliminate metabolic waste. Dry brushing also improves the skin’s texture. It should be done using a natural-bristle brush or an exfoliating glove, before a bath. Start with the lower limbs, arms and back, then the front of the body, brushing the skin in an upward movement toward the heart, using moderate pressure and short strokes. If you have a soft brush, the face can be done as well, using circular motions.

The benefits of dry brushing are that it stimulates and increases blood circulation. It helps the skin flush out toxins, and rejuvenates the entire

nervous system. It can reduce cellulite deposits, tone and tighten the skin, increase resistance to colds and improves overall health.
