Yogic getaway

The rains have lingered this year giving hotels enough reason to offer some interesting monsoon packages. And this one doesn’t just promise an exotic destination, but also throws in rejuvenating Yoga into the holiday. The Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur has a three-day Monsoon Yoga package on offer which promises to help you unwind, detox and rejuvenate. On till the end of September it will cost a couple Rs 1.38 lakh (excluding taxes) for a four-night stay. This does seem like a tidy amount, but the cost covers return transfers from the nearest airport/railway station, all breakfasts and dinners (no lunches though), Ayurvedic spa treatments and private Yoga sessions. To begin with, you’ll get a private session with an Ayurvedic physician who will chart out the Yoga, meditation and Ayurvedic treatments for you depending on what your body requires. Roughly this is how your days at Udaivilas will be spent: day one will begin with a gentle Yoga session and Pranayam followed by a dry herbal massage. The next day will involve purifying the nasal cavity and the gastro-intestinal tract through another Yoga session. After some Yoga on the third day, you can look forward to Shirodhara treatment (that is, oil will be trickled on your forehead which has a calming effect on the mind). For more call 1 800 11 2030 or 011 2389 0606 or go to www.oberoihotels.com.

Holiday hotspot

Sangeeth Sivan,
Film director

I love travelling, but not for holidays. So for me, any place where I go with my family makes for a perfect holiday destination! Whenever I am shooting, I go to a location 10 days in advance. And I make it a point to call my wife and children there either before or after the shoot. That way I really get to spend time with my family. But there are some places which I would love to visit. For instance, I have wanted to go to New Zealand ever since I watched the Lord Of The Rings trilogy. Two other places I am fascinated with and would love to spend a holiday in are Ladakh and Benaras. I had seen some pictures of Benaras and since then I have wanted to go there. As for Ladakh, I think it is a fascinating place. I am also enamoured by the Buddhist culture which makes it an added attraction.
