Big on brands

Items in your closet you can’t do without

My deep blue denims are indispensable. I also can’t do without my white linen trousers that I team with halters and spaghetti tops, shirts in solid white/black, track pants and sneakers.

Items you haven’t worn in the last one year

I refuse to wear my high-waisted jeans that are flared at the bottom or are loose-fitting — they are so out of fashion.

What kind of a shopper are you?

I’m a shopaholic but am very quick in selecting what I want to buy.

Your most extravagant buy has been...

I’ve always loved sports cars, so I bought a red Mercedes Benz SL 500 two years ago. This has been my most extravagant buy ever.

Have money, will spend on...

I would love to spend money on a private jet since rushing to board flights and coping with the chaos at airports can be very inconvenient at times.

If there was a fire...

I will call a helpline and save my family first. Material things can be bought again.

Favourite accessories

I love to wear headgear like headbands and bandanas which look stylish. I also team most outfits with long earrings.

Favourite splurge stops

Milan, London and Paris are my favourite shopping destinations. Not only are they exciting places for a holiday, but you will also find the best designer brands in these cities. I travel to Milan, London and Paris every year around June and pick up accessories and bags and raid my favourite stores like Fendi, D&G, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Just Cavalli among others.

Your latest buys are

A silver Fendi bag and white-rimmed Fendi sunglasses.

Travel kit must-haves…

I never forget to pack a first-aid kit, a sun block cream, a lip balm, a hand sanitiser and a good perfume.

You have a nose for...

Issey Miyake because it is one of my favourite perfumes. It has a very soothing and sweet smell. I feel great when I wear this perfume.

On a date, you’d be seen wearing...

A very feminine, flowing chiffon dress that I think looks stunning.

Designers you admire and why?

I admire Roberto Cavalli for the printing and embroidery techniques that he uses in his creations.

Clothes they say maketh a man. True or false?

Clothes definitely make a man. It is one’s style of dressing which reflects the personality of a person and makes him stand out in the crowd.

What do you do on a bad hair day?

I simply pull my hair back in a ponytail or wear a bandana.

Whose closet do you envy and why?

I think my closet is the best and I’m quite fond of it so there is no chance that I will envy anyone else’s. In fact, many people tell me they admire mine.

(As told to Chitra Papnai)
