q: I have a problem with my three month-old Indica. There is a metallic ringing sound from the rear of the car that starts as soon as I start the car and stops when I turn off the engine, so I know it is not the suspension. What could it be? Please help.

a: Please have the exhaust system checked. Most likely the mountings for the exhaust have come loose and are causing the noise. Other sources of noise could be suspension components.

The spark tale

q: I want a car within Rs 4 lakh- Rs 4.5 lakh. I have shortlisted the i10, Spark and the Swift. I drive about 20km a day on the highway. Is the Spark a good buy? Please help.

a: The Spark is a good car. It drives well in the city but feels a little under powered on the highway.If you do a lot of highway driving we recommend the Swift.

q: I drive a 2002 Zen Lx. Lately the AC doesn’t cool as well as before. What could be the problem?

a: Most likely you have to refill the gas in your AC system. Please ensure you fill the correct type of gas as mentioned in your owners’ manual and get the entire AC system checked.
