Narrow escape

Jason cull, a 37-year- old teacher, poked a killer shark in the eye and saved himself. While swimming off Middleton Beach in Western Australia, Cull spotted a four-metre-long grey shape drawing near him. At first he mistook it for a dolphin, but when the creature banged straight into him, Cull realised it was a shark. The great white shark seized his left leg and pulled him underwater. As Cull was dragged underwater by the massive beast he felt for its eye and poked it. After being attacked, the shark released its prey from its clutch and eventually swam towards other swimmers. When Cull reached the surface of the ocean, he screamed out for help and was pulled out by Joane Lucas, a volunteer at the local surfing club. Although Cull fought death with valour, he suffered serious bite injuries and had to undergo surgery.

Mango delight

It’s summer and the perfect time to gorge on the king of fruits, the mango. Recently, a mango-eating competition was held in Mumbai as part of the six-day Konkan Festival that got over last week. Thirty people participated in this competition in which they had to eat as many mangoes as they could within just three minutes. The winners were suitably rewarded with a box full of fresh mangoes.
